Essential Tech Accessories for Your Laptop
Laptops are as handy and light as can be, but that will not come without a price. Many things have been created to fix that issue, offering you all the capabilities you’re looking for, but which ones are actually of use? Obviously, you can only judge them on a case-to-case basis, but some laptop accessories are just indispensable.
External Hard Drives
At a time when computers are prone to viruses, stray magnets and other risks, backing up is crucial. If you just need to secure new files, you may need no more than a USB drive. For bigger chunks of data, you can consider an online service like Google Drive, DropBox, etc. If you want all your files, preferences and settings saved, then you should go for an external hard drive. Most people would get a basic, portable hard drive, but if portability isn’t necessary for you, buying a bigger and heavier desktop external can be more cost-effective .
If you’re a computer professional and you notice your laptop burning, you can simply pull the base open and begin cleaning the fan. Otherwise, it’s smart to buy a laptop fan. This may cost you about $15-20, but that will most probably be for life. It’s one of those expenses that you need to make, not just for convenience but even for safety. Fires stemming from burnt laptops aren’t exactly unheard of.
The need for a reserve set of batteries is contestable. As Apple laptops use built-in batteries, it would be largely useless to keep an extra set. But if you almost always need battery-based performance, then by all means, get one. That will come in handy on extended flights or bus rides. When buying extra batteries, check if they’re right for your laptop. It will be so frustrating to spend $80 on something that wouldn’t fit.
Touchpads can be quite annoying, though you can always get accustomed to them after a while. If you’re seriously into gaming, you may already have a killer mouse. If you just like to use a mouse, or your touchpad is low quality or becoming intolerable, just get a mouse at your local store.
Don’t you just hate how tiny and usually inaudible the sound coming from laptop speakers can be? While they have evolved a lot since they first came out, sometimes, they just won’t do the job, especially when you’re trying to watch something. In this scenario, a pair of cheap speakers can be invaluable. There will be lots of cute and frilly options out there, but don’t be tempted. Just get something that works for you, no matter how dull-looking.
